How can I detect a leak?

Propane is easy to detect due to its smell of rotten eggs, which will arise if the tank is almost empty or if there is a leak. In either case, go through the following steps:

 

  1. Put out every item connected to tobacco products or any uncovered flames. Do not use matches or other ignitors, including electrical switches, flashlights, phones, and cellphones.
  2. Open all doors and windows, turn off all gas tank valves and appliances.
  3. Immediately evacuate the facility.
  4. Call your Propane Levac Service Agent at 1 800-465-4927, 24-hour service.

Payment Options

A Solution Tailored to Your Needs

At Propane Levac, we are aware of the fact that your heating bill reprensents a considerable expense during the long winter months. Therefore, we offer different payment options to better suit your needs.

Benefit from payment installments broken down throughout the year. No surprise in December and January when time comes to pay both your heating bill and Christmas gifts! To do so, call us, and we will be more than happy to provide you with advice.

We also offer the possibility of automatic transfer, through direct withdrawal from your bank account or you may use your credit card. You may also go ahead with a bank transfer directly at your institution or with web banking. You may also mail us a cheque.

Do you plan on moving?

Propane Levac is your service provider, just like the electricity, telephone and cable distribution providers you are already subscribed to. You must inform us if you move in or out and if you require our services. Call us and an Accounts Agent will be pleased to open or close an account for you. We can also adjust our delivery in sync with a planned move.

If you take possession of a house or business that is equipped with one of our tanks, all you need to do is contact us to open an account. Call us to let one of our employees know about it, and we will be more than happy to register you as the new owner of the property.

Call us to ensure a hassle-free account transfer. In order to complete your request, we will require the closing date and the name of the new owner.

When you move in as a tenant and the house or apartment benefits from Propane Levac services, you must open an account in your name. In order to do so, contact us before your move so we can activate your account at the time of your first delivery.

Be sure to notify the buyer if your tank is rented as they will need to contact us to make the transfer.

Be advised that a security deposit may be required.

What you Should Know

You Can Never Be Too Informed!

Your energy consumption represents a good portion of your budget.
Here are a few Q&A questions that will help you better manage your use.

Many factors will influence your energy consumption. If you use propane as fuel for heating your house, the size, the window frame sealing and the all-around insulation will have a major affect on your consumption. The number of individuals living in the house, the ideal temperature for your comfort and your daily life habits will also have a considerable influence. In fact, each client is unique, so a full assessment of your needs administered by one of our representatives is a must!

Moreover, your equipment’s efficiency, be it a furnace, a fireplace, a water heater or the cooking range, may all affect your propane consumption.

Even if you are on a scheduled delivery, Propane Levac recommends you keep a close tab on the percentage of propane left in your tank. In order to do so, simply lift the tank’s lid: you will find a measuring scale indicating the percentage of propane left. If it is at 30% or less, contact us to request a delivery.

Inspections are undertaken to ensure everyone’s security, as well as safeguard compliance with propane storage and handling regulations.

A comprehensive inspection consists of verifying your entire propane installation, including all appliances within your property, the lines, the connections to the tank, and the tank itself. The technician will perform a series of examinations to confirm that there are no leaks, among other things. The legislation is designed to ascertain that all systems meet the Code requirements, and are therefore operating in safe conditions.

As a minimum, comprehensive inspection reports are required every ten (10) years, and are strongly recommended when adding new appliances to the system. Homeowners are subject to the requirements of the CAN/CSAB149.2 Propane Storage and Handling Code and the CAN/CSA B149.1 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code.

We must validate the professional licensure of all technicians. Please contact us at 800-465-4927  to obtain a referral for a preferred technician within your area, or to confirm that the technician you have hired is licenced. When contacting the technician, inform them that you are booking an appointment for a ten-year comprehensive inspection of your propane installation.

If you leave your home for a few weeks, you probably already know about lowering your heat command and asking a friend or a neighbour to keep an eye on your property. For safety reasons, it is the same for propane. Find out the percentage of propane left in your tank and contact us to let us know if you are leaving. We will then align our delivery with your temporary needs. Make sure you have access to your bills and are able to make payments in order to avoid delays in your next delivery. The person who plows your driveway should also clean the access path to the tank, simplifying the task for your Delivery Agent. Using precaution allows you to get away from your home worry-free.

To meet the requirements of the industry, Propane Levac asks for a full mandatory inspection of your equipment every 10 years. This inspection will be carried out by a certified technician. Because propane must be delivered by truck and this process requires access to the tank, some rules apply to make our delivery simple. Make sure to clear out the access to the tank, including the parking area and steps. Clear a safe path for your delivery agent to have easy access to the tank. Remember that they must perform many deliveries a day and that snow lumps may become major obstacles!
